Totlok Installation Issues

The instructions that come with the Totlok are fairly good, and the installation of a Totlok is not a super big deal. Using the tools that are recommended and the template provided, you can install a Totlok in about twenty minutes, perhaps forty minutes will be required the first time for reading the instructions, collecting the required tools and figuring things out.

The most important thing I can add to the instructions provided is this. Never, ever close the door you are installing the Totlok on until you have tested whether the magnet will actually open the lock!!! If you do shut the door, there is little you can do short of destroying the lock and/or the door to get the door open again.

Reasons that the door might not open are:

There are probably other ways to get into trouble, but this is the only thing that has caused me to have to destroy a lock. It was an unhappy moment, I can assure you.

If things are sticking after you install, try pushing the door in while moving the magnet over the area. If this fixes the issue, then you might consider moving the catch so that the lock engages a bit looser.
